JWL was invited to participate and speak at the Refugee & Migrant Education Network’s international conference, hosted by the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 26-29 September, around the theme of ‘Moving forward, diving deeper, together’. During the workshop entitled ‘Leveraging Technology in Refugee Camp Education’, co-facilitated by Pangea Educational Development, Ms Mélodie Honen-Delmar and Dr Mathias Beck introduced JWL’s work, model and impact, how technology is leveraged to serve communities in some of the most challenging, low-connectivity contexts, as well as plans to develop a bachelor’s degree in science.

Workshop participants  reflected on how to further develop technology for refugee education in their respective contexts. Among the keynote speakers, the High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, highlighted the need to develop educational opportunities for refugees, including higher education opportunities, in low- and middle-income countries (which host 83% of the world’s refugees).
