JWL is proud to announce a momentous achievement in collaboration with the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU). Our joint innovative educational initiatives have been honoured with the prestigious University Prize for Knowledge Transfer. This accolade recognises outstanding contributions by KU academics who go beyond the academic environment to engage with broader societal challenges and to shape a future worth living.

Our collaboration with KU has been spearheaded by an incredible KU team comprising Dr. Marina Tsoi, Maria Müller-Pulsfuß, and Prof. Dr. Rowena Roppelt, who have been pivotal in developing and leading our projects, namely the Learning Facilitator and the Educational Innovation and Leadership programmes. Through these short-cyle, credit-bearing programmes, educators develop knowledge and skills to meet the diverse needs of students in marginalised communities, integrating student-centred strategies and digital tools to create a safe and enriching learning environment. The team’s dedication and hard work have significantly enhanced the learning experiences of many individuals who are typically excluded from traditional educational opportunities.

“The close cooperation with JWL under the leadership of Father Peter Balleis SJ as well as the unwavering support from both KU’s School of Transformation and Sustainability and the University administration, led by KU President Prof. Dr. Gabriele Gien, are essential for the ongoing success of our initiatives,” says Prof. Dr. Rowena Roppelt.

The recognition from KU underscores the impact and importance of our work together, reinforcing our mission to make education accessible to all, regardless of their circumstances. It also highlights the innovative approach of using education as a means of knowledge transfer to address global challenges and create a sustainable future.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire JWL-KU team and all our supporters who believe in the power of education to transcend boundaries. Furthermore, we look forward to continuing our fruitful collaboration with KU, driving forward our shared goals of inclusivity, innovation, and transformation in education.
