JWL is committed to offering tertiary education in communities at the margins of societies – those societies that through poverty, location, lack of opportunity, conflict or forced displacement exist among the rural or urban poor, indigenous or isolated displaced people. Together JWL and its Community Learning Centers form a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious global community of learners enabling all to contribute their knowledge and voices to foster hope to create a more peaceful and humane world.
JWL and its partners have developed a set of new, 6-month professional certificate courses designed to provide learners with professional knowledge, skills and competencies. Piloted between 2018 and 2019, these courses are practical-based, occupationally-specific and help the participants improve their skills and practices, enter the workforce, or access tertiary education programmes:
JWL has been offering the Diploma Liberal Studies, accredited by Regis University (USA), since 2010. Recognising students’ demand for further education, we have been working to facilitate the path to full degrees. The 15 credits of the Diploma in Liberal studies may be transferable for successful applicants to study on the Bachelor of Science in Leadership (Creighton University, USA), or the Bachelor of Arts in Management (Southern New Hampshire University, USA).
As of January 2020, a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Development (accredited by Xavier University Bhubaneswar, India) is now available.
