Greater Good Principles

Preserving the safety and dignity of all persons – without discrimination – is of paramount importance for Jesuit Worldwide Learning.

JWL is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards, doing all that we can to prevent any harm from coming to those whom we serve and those who make the realisation of our mission possible.

We are committed to ensuring the protection of all children, young people and vulnerable adults who are involved in any way with JWL around the world, and to give staff (all employees, temporary employees, volunteers, third party contractors and freelancers) a clear structure within which they can learn and work in safety and in dignity.

We want you to feel comfortable in approaching our staff and senior leadership in instances where you believe violations of our policies or standards have occurred.

In situations where you prefer to place an anonymous report in confidence, you are encouraged to use JWL’s third party hotline provider, NAVEX WhistleB. You are encouraged to submit reports relating to violations stated in our Greater Good Principles policies or any other JWL policy. Additionally you can ask for guidance related to policies and procedures as well as provide positive suggestions and stories.

Safeguarding

Anyone can come forward and raise a concern, whether JWL staff, partners, contractors, or students, in a safe and anonymous way.

JWL is committed to an environment where open, honest communications are the expectation, not the exception.

We expect all of our staff and partners to adhere to the highest personal and professional standards. As part of our efforts to tackle discrimination, sexual exploitation and abuse, and in order to foster inclusive and equitable educational and work environments, we are implementing JWL policies which collectively form our Greater Good Principles.

All JWL Staff are required to complete the Safeguarding Essentials online course and – in centres with minors – the Introduction to Child Protection online course as a part of their induction.

Our Policies

These policies will be regularly reviewed and updated. Any allegations or concerns raised will be taken seriously and perpetrators will be held accountable. The revision and introduction of these policies are a step towards addressing the critical issues they speak to and these are a priority of JWL at all times.
