SAN HTOI

“Foremost, my dream is to bring peace to my conflicted society…” says San Htoi, from Myanmar.

Determined to actively bring peace to the community, she just joined the Peace Leader professional certificate programme, in order to gain knowledge and skills in conflict resolution, conflict transformation, negotiation and mediation skills, principles of building trust which she finds are “the foundation for peace and so [much] more.”

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and related challenges, she is able to interact online with peers from around the world. “Whenever I talked with them, I mostly realised their passion, enthusiastic and dedication towards peace which in turn inspires me to become a Peace Leader in near future.”

In these first couple of weeks, San Htoi and fellow learners have looked at what a peace leader is, how to ‘listen to silence’, as well as how to nurture safety and trust. Upon completion of the programme, she would be keen to start an organisation that promotes peace with the community, and to share what she has learned with youth living in internally displaced persons camps.
